Jayhawks Give a Flock! Be an ACTive Bystander. It's on all of us.

What's bystander intervention? Choosing to take action when you see behavior that puts others at risk for violence, victimization, or perpetration. These include speaking out against rape myths and sexist language, supporting vistim/survivors, and intervening in potentially violent situations.

How to Give a Flock. Steps to intervention: 1. Observe - Realize that something is happening or happened. 2. Assess - Consider what info or help you need to intervene safely. 3. A.C.T. - Choose to take ACTion (Ask for help, Create a distraction, Talk directly). 4. Follow Up - Determine what follow up support can be offered. You can change the outcome.

Your actions matter. 1/5 (cis) women, 1/15 (cis) men, 1/2 trans individual will experience sexual violence while in college. 66% of all vioence crimes occur in the presence of a bystander. Bystanders are present during 29% of all acts of violence. Doesn't sound serious enough? Watch this.
